May the calling ever be in your favor

In the movie “The Hunger Games,” the protagonist Katniss willingly volunteers as tribute to save her sister. After reading “A Call to Arms,” I realized that we have to follow her example of self-sacrifice to save the earth. The seaweed is 30 percent more acidic compared to four decades ago, and the summer sea ice in the Arctic has mostly disappeared. Average citizens can protect their dear planet by making a stand. New York City will be hosting one of the largest marches; this could be a way everyday people can tell the government to take climate change seriously. In the U.N., world leaders are making no progress on slowing its effects such as rising sea levels. This extreme weather, including tsunamis and droughts, will only get worse if we stay in this negligent direction. Maybe like Katniss, we will be victorious in our pleas for the government to make new regulations to help the environment. Hopefully during this march, “the odds will ever be in [our] favor.”
