What do we want? Climate Justice. When do we want it? NOW

Waking up at 10 a.m. exhausted from the night before, you can imagine that I definitely wasn’t feeling up for the march anymore. But as I stepped on the subway, I noticed all the people  going to the march. I told my friends Jackie, and Violetta: “I know I don’t feel like going now, but when I get on the train and see how many people are going also, I am going to feel apart of something bigger than myself. I’m going to feel the unity.” The minute we stepped on the train a man asked to see our poster, upon showing him he gave us a thumbs up. I couldn’t help but feel happy to know that someone noticed the work we put in.  Getting off the train someone said “have a great time today, let’s make history!” So I made my way to the Macaulay building with that beautiful sentence in mind.

At the end of the day I have to say the march was definitely worth it, I’m tired and the sole of my left foot hurts but I can’t complain. I really enjoyed being around people who were so passionate. I feel more conscious about the environment,  especially when I see the pollution all around. For instance when I saw this:

I couldn’t help but feel upset, but I’d like to believe that change is on it’s way.  After all, there were thousands of people marching for the change. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw all the kids who were holding posters and marching with us. Also seeing people looking at our poster also made me feel like I was making others aware. I was touched that people admired our hard work.  Overall, this was a very memorable experience; I loved the different chants and most of all the drums, which made the march so much better! I truly feel like I was apart of something great, and I’m sure we made history!
