We are Professor Hum’s Macaulay Seminar 2: The Peopling of New York. Our semester-long project has been a neighborhood study focusing on the Roosevelt Avenue Business Improvement District and its effects on the surrounding Jackson Heights and Corona areas.  This website is a compilation of our findings over the Spring 2013 semester including the area’s history, demography, economics, and culture. Our overarching question has been “Roosevelt Avenue: Contested Terrain, Neighborhood Center, or Border?” Through the lens of this question, we have collected data through archives, census data, field work, and interviews. We hope you enjoy it!
