Carnegie Hall: A Festival Celebrating Chinese Culture

Last Monday, we had our class visit to a performance at Carnegie Hall. The performance was a celebration of Chinese culture, featuring colorful and unpredictable music and a talented ensemble. When the lights dimmed, the show began and the stage looked like it was miles away. It transformed into a different scene that became a part of the artists' performace.

Meet the Artist: Joseph O' Connor

The reading we went to on Tuesday was a different kind of "meet the artist" experience. We got to know the artist through words, through his own writing. He read to us excerpts from his novel and poems. I liked his narrative voice and witty sense of humor. He tried to reach out to his audience members. Of his readings, the love letter written by a soldier to a woman he loved left a lasting impression. The love sounded so poetically painful.
