A fairy-tale where everything has its price

As we’ve been all saying since the beginning of this school year New York is a Mecca for arts. Lately, giving a tour of Greenwich Village to my French friend, I got inspired by another example of arts in NYC- store windows.
People become so creative in order to promote their merchandise that they create a form of art in their own genre. It is not only about the clothes they sell or the price they sell it for, but about the brand and its exposition. They use symbols that customers can assimilate with or status they desire to have.

Sounds of China: A New Experience at Carnegie Hall

As a New Yorker, I must regretfully state that before Monday night, I had never been to Carnegie Hall. It had always been something I heard about, something enigmatic and profound that represented the pinnacle of success in the music world. If you had performed at Carnegie Hall, you were somebody worth listening to. After walking around the whole building and entering 2 out of the 3 entrances, I finally found my way to where I was supposed to be. The Ensemble ACJW event was being held in the Weill Recital Hall.

59th street subway

I did not know that i was in for a surprise when I decided to go home for the weekend. I needed to get to the West Side and completely unintentionally I happened to be in the 59th street subway station transferring from the 6 to the Q.  As I turned a corner to walk up a flight of stairs, there it was; a HUGE mural of tiles colored in all of the basic colors. I remembered then that Professor Bergman had posted a blog about a new installment in the 59th St station.

Carnegie Hall Performance

I'd have to say that my visit to Carnegie Hall (for the first time) was quite bizarre. As I approached Carnegie Hall with a bunch of classmates, we came upon multiple entrances. To our surprise, none of these entrances were the right ones. It took us about 10 minutes to figure out where to go and eventually, we met with Jeremy Geffen, the organizer of performances that take place in Carnegie Hall. I wasn't really interested in what he was telling me because I felt as if he wasn't really telling me much.
