Abstract:
The New York City Harbor is a watershed that has historically been vulnerable to the effects of environmental changes. As governmental regulations addressed national environmental concerns, the health of this body of water has never been reassessed. This study thus aimed to analyze measures of chemical and physical pollutants in the St. George Transect in order to determine the shift in their levels over time. Data was collected from the NYC OpenData website, where previous levels of nitrate, ammonium, and turbidity were compared to recent measures. The data collected corroborates the hypothesis, suggesting that water quality in New York City has improved.
