Endangered species are species with very few remaining sites. Research even shows that the world’s plants are going extinct about 500 times faster than they should, including many in New York. We answered the following questions in our poster – What are endangered plants? And what are the events that cause plants to be endangered? After conducting research on the plants that are classified as endangered species in New York, we found that endangered plants in New York have a population of less than 2,000 and less than 10 remaining plant sites. Ultimately, the most common cause of plant loss is due to the conversion of native plant habitat to farms, cities, and systems created to regulate water flow. Through various conservation efforts, experiments, and projects, scientists are working to save endangered plants in New York.
