Impact of Urbanization on Bird Species
NYC is known for its urbanized setting, yet is still home to diverse wildlife populations. What impact does urbanization have on bird species?

New York City is one of the most urbanized cities in the world. However the impacts of urbanization can often be harmful to the natural ecosystem by impacting its wildlife. This project explores how increased construction in an area impacts the biodiversity of birds within two NYC neighborhoods by calculating the Simpson’s diversity index.
