The Recreation of “Rosalie Julie Freiin von Bonar” #ArtInIsolation

When recreating this portrait, I had to use only the materials that I had at home. I used a curling iron, red lipstick, my mother’s shirt, a phone, and a white headband. I crumpled tissues to put underneath my headband so that it would stand up like the original.

I worked individually on this project and decided to recreate the portrait, “Rosalie Julie Freiin von Bonar” by Karl Joseph Stieler, circa 1840, since I felt that we had similar physical traits.

Back in the day, people hired painters, and then later, photographers to take professional pictures of them, but I decided to take a selfie. Today, people are constantly taking selfies on their iPhones, so I decided to capture it in this modernized way.
