“To Taiwan” is a video essay about how my relationship with Taiwan has changed over the course of my gap year. As a Chinese American, I have always wanted to explore my identity, so when the opportunity to study Mandarin in Taiwan and travel throughout Asia came up, I leapt at the chance. This project is my way of telling that story.
