In the age of COVID-19, where mandated shutdowns and quarantines are keeping many people at home, it should be expected that energy use and consumption should have reduced dramatically, especially in large spaces such as office spaces and schools. Our group was tasked with looking at the energy use (in kWh) throughout the Brooklyn College campus before and after the COVID-19 shutdowns. Despite there being minimal staff and students allowed on campus for the past several months, buildings across the campus were almost using the same amount of energy during the shutdown period as it did during the two weeks before the shutdowns began, dampening not only our assumptions about the energetic efficiency of our campus but also our expectations about energy usage in the abstract.

This presents the following:
What can we do to improve our campus’ energy consumption and what would that entail?
