Young Woman With Her Mask Over Her Mouth

Inspired by Edgar Degas’s painting “Young Woman With Her Hands Over Mouth”; see how times have changed since Degas!

My project is a recreation of Edgar Degas’ painting, “Young Woman With Her Hand Over Her Mouth” ca. 1875. The woman in Degas’ painting is depicted as sick or upset and this image of a sick young person seemed fitting for our times in a pandemic. My recreation features me (Maggie Timothy) dressed as the young woman but instead of covering my face with my hands, I am covering my face with a mask! Though I recreated the project alone, my group members (Millie Kaur, Aren Arakelian, Ava Fratarelli) helped me come up with the idea.
