Do nutrition labels on menus influence caloric intake?

As of May 2018, the FDA has established new nutrition labelling legislation to require restaurants to post calorie content for each menu item. This has been done in an effort to encourage people to make more health conscious food choices, and indirectly prevent obesity. Project Abstract: In this project, we researched the effectiveness of nutrition labeling on menus. As of May 2018, the FDA has established new nutrition labelling legislation to require restaurants to post calorie content for each menu item. This has been done in an effort to encourage people to make more health conscious food choices, and indirectly prevent obesity. We used information from studies that surveyed where and when people noticed nutrition labelling, and if noticing it did influence their decision. Many studies concluded that there was an impact, but that it was insignificant. Overall, our results were inconclusive due to conflicting evidence from various studies.
