Our project explores the ways attending college can impact one’s nutrition and dietary consumption. The research we gathered serves as a call for action for academic institutions to prioritize and implement nutritional programs that support a healthy and sustainable living for college students. Our process for choosing this topic involved collective reflection and collaboration. As a group, we noticed the limited food sources provided at Hunter College and questioned how that impacts the community of students as a whole. We aimed to approach this project with sensitivity as food subjects aren’t always easy to discuss. Completing this work required patience and the willingness to inquire possible solutions to our research, as the data showed that many students developed unhealthy eating habits while being in college. We strive for Hunter College to incorporate accessible food sources that aid its students in performing well and healthy throughout their education.
