Living in New York City can be overwhelming, so we wanted to see how exposure to green spaces, whether it be the big parks or small hidden gems, effected people’s stress levels and mental health. We gathered survey results and asked our participants questions that had to do with their stress levels, how present they are in green spaces, and what being in green spaces made them feel. We then tested the association between the two variables to see if green spaces do effect mental health. As college students in New York City, we know that things can get stressful in the busy streets and juggling school, work and home life can be difficult. We all realized that places like Central Park are stress relievers for many, including us, so we wanted to see how green spaces played a role in others’ lives as well.

Hey,
This is a well-organized research poster; I appreciate the attention to detail. In your methods column, you mentioned using the ANOVA test; as someone who has never used this platform/website/app, I’m curious to know how it works, and it is something I will definitely take a look at. I’m also interested in learning some of the limitations or biases that may have affected your group’s overall conclusion based on the graph since the data was obtained using surveys.

I think you have a very interesting hypothesis. I agree that a larger sample size would obviously be better, but I’m impressed with the work that went into this. Designing, implementing, and analyzing surveys, even if it is only 25, in one semester is hard work. Just getting people to take a survey is difficult. I am curious if the survey participants were family and friends, which would be fine, just another point of interest.

This is a nice poster! The approach to the research is interesting too! Green spaces have characteristics that separate them from a city. For example, green spaces have trees, animals, people, quiet, and its clean. Having a spot like this in the midst of city chaos is defiantly a stress reliever. Your survey results seem to reflect this! Thank for sharing your results!
