The Effect of Household Income on Street Tree Diversity: A Close Look at Four Brooklyn Neighborhoods

we would like to find out whether tree diversity is similar across a subset of four neighborhoods in Brooklyn which differ significantly with regard to the median household income of the residents therein. This is important because trees provide crucial ecosystem services such as filtering air particles and keeping streets cool (Willis and Petrokofsky, 2017). We are interested in exploring the relationship between median household income and tree diversity because tree diversity is important to neighborhood health and quality of life.

PM2.5 vs Precipitation in NYC

This past year the forest fires in Canada and the extreme rain in September got us all thinking about air pollution and rainfall. Particles in the air form nuclei for clouds to condense around. The Straight A Student Counts Sheep: Quantity of Sleep and Effects on Academic Performance

Our project focuses on how much sleep can have an affect on one’s academic performance. As students, we have deadlines to complete. However, even with these set deadlines, it can be difficult to manage your time when it comes to school assignments and other personal matters in order to have work done on time: thus, people begin to spend more time doing work and less time sleeping. We wanted to research how lack of sleep can effect our ability to concentrate and also other factors when it comes to learning within the classroom.

Vytynanky & Dombra Festival

After extensive research on the cultural art styles we decided to combine Vytynanky and the Dombra by creating an event where people would indulge in making a papercut design to apply on to the Dombra. The event will finish off with everyone playing beginner songs with the Dombras they designed with Vytynanky.
