The Straight A Student Counts Sheep: Quantity of Sleep and Effects on Academic Performance

Our project focuses on how much sleep can have an affect on one’s academic performance. As students, we have deadlines to complete. However, even with these set deadlines, it can be difficult to manage your time when it comes to school assignments and other personal matters in order to have work done on time: thus, people begin to spend more time doing work and less time sleeping. We wanted to research how lack of sleep can effect our ability to concentrate and also other factors when it comes to learning within the classroom.

Vytynanky & Dombra Festival

After extensive research on the cultural art styles we decided to combine Vytynanky and the Dombra by creating an event where people would indulge in making a papercut design to apply on to the Dombra. The event will finish off with everyone playing beginner songs with the Dombras they designed with Vytynanky.

Nature in Human Spaces

Our project focuses on the connection between nature and humans and how it is depicted through art by featuring how nature is depicted through art using Kant’s aesthetic philosophy, the harm humans conduct to nature, and how nature is preserved by humans.

The Park and the People

Discover the untold story of Seneca Village, a thriving 19th-century African American community that was demolished to make way for Central Park. The demolition of this space lead to the erasure of African American communities and history. Thanks to that, we were able to discover stories of perseverance, community, and the fight against injustice.

For our STEAM presentation, we decided to display our identity webs. Our identity can tell our story, it informs who we are. Parts of our identity are inherent within us, no matter how much we’d try to distance ourselves, and other aspects we choose to take on.

The Italian Futurist movement (Joseph Levy)

My presentation is about the “Italian Futurist Art Movement” which spanned from 1909 up until 1944. In this presentation I displayed the various artists of the futurist movement and examined the way used art to capture the dynamism, speed, and energy of the industrialized world in their time.

Our mission is to explore the rich tapestry of flavors and give recommendations to some of our favorite spots.

Negative Effects of Invasive Plant Species in Prospect Park on the General Native Plant, Insect, and Animal Species

Located in Brooklyn, New York, Prospect Park spans 526 acres. We examined four of the most invasive plant species and the affected native species in Prospect Park. We focused on each plant’s role and how the ecosystem is affected from the prevalence of invasive plant species. We also analyzed an in-progress solution issued by Prospect Park in recent years to target these invasive species.
