U.S. Census & NY Post

I’ve been trying to collect as much statistical data as I can, however, this is all I have been able to find for this week.

Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 2008-2012 American Community Survey

Total reported population of people with French ancestry in New York City: 67,761 (+/- 2,633) out of 8,1999,221. That accounts for 0.8% (+/- 0.1) of the population.

While waiting to borrow books from the Alliance Française’s library, I discovered this NY Post article about some French transplants in New York City.

This article paints a very trendy, energetic image of New York City through the eyes of the French residing here. The people quoted talk about how they love New York City and how thriving it is for creativity and entrepreneurship, in comparison to Paris. The article also makes note of random places, mainly restaurants, of French culture. There is not much depth or detail to this content, but it does help show the romantic picture that is often painted of NYC by the French.
