Home of the Fascinating

After viewing a fellow Macaulay student’s eportfolio post on space-saving furniture, I thought it was so cool that I wanted to showcase it too!

You can check out her post, here. Giving credits where they’re due.

Anyways, so Space Savers. Qu’est-ce que c’est? Pretty self-explanatory. It’s furniture that transforms!

And it’s gorgeous! I mean, I’m not a huge fan of modern furniture. To me, they feel impersonal. Sort of unlivable in. I prefer a cozy, homey feeling, which I don’t feel in modern homes, but clean, straight-lined, organized interiors as this are just as beautiful as the log cabin interiors.

Actually, while I’m on the topic of homes I prefer, I shall share with you that I LOVE architecture and interior design/decorating. And when I say love, I really mean love. My dream home changes every once in a while. But there are multiple types of homes I will always love, even if I don’t want to live in them. (Though I can’t quite speak in the definite because, who’s to say I won’t change my mind. But that’s beside the point.)

Type 1: The Castle — This is my typical girly side showing. I am a sucker for all things ancient, romantic, doomed-love kind of feeling. I really love Gothic architecture. I could live in a castle. Even if it’s scary (that adds to the fun!) and humongous (I can plan SUPER hide-and-seek, my favorite childhood game) and impersonal. I know I’m contradicting what I said earlier about modern homes, but castles are a completely different thing. They’re magical and wonderful and mysterious. And you know how some castles have grand and gorgeous gardens? I would love my house to be hidden within are complicated, beautiful garden.

Type 2: The Cozy Home — Somehow, I pictured this house to be sort-of wooden and overlooking a magnificent vineyard. But I think this image in my head is slowly deteriorating. I just want a comfy home where, after a long day of work, I can just kick my shoes off and relax without worrying about running the presence of my house.

Type 3: The Peaceful House — So, this house is a mix of modern and organic. I can’t quite describe. So I’l show you instead. It’s beautiful.

After discussing my favorite types of houses, I lost the point of my post and I lost my dream home. To clarify the latter, after researching in depth and actually describing my favorite types of homes, I lost my strong desire to live in them (except for the castle). In a sense, I lost my idea of a dream house. The more I thought about it, the less I knew what kind of house I want to live in. My favorite types are not as beautiful and spectacular as when I first discovered them. *Sigh* This is kind of heartbreaking.

However, I do know what kind of town I would love to live in. Have you ever watched the movie Kiki’s Delivery Service? The town Kiki lives in, that’s my dream place. A quaint little town, with small shops, cobblestone streets, friendly neighbors, and a seaside view. Or a town like Eze, France. Or maybe Strasbourg. Actually, this is getting too complicated. I’m going to stop before I go on another tangent. I’ll devote a separate  post to places I adore.

Back to my original topic: Watch this video! It’s interesting!

I really like this space-saving apartment. However, I hope that when I get my own place to live, I will have enough space to leave everything out.
