Frida Kahlo & I

I was introduced to the work of Frida Kahlo in a seventh grade art class. I was deeply affected by the sad story of her life as well as amazed by her ability to project these feelings into her art. It was these poignant emotions which made her work so powerful beause it was based in the utmost of what is human.

Because of this connection with her, i took so much menaing from this display which allowed my face to appear next to her own self portrait. the experience could also be seen as a symbolic way for musueam goers to put themsleves in Kahlo’s shoes.

I am convinced that artists of Kahlo’s level think in ways that lay people like me would have a hard time wrapping our minds around. However, I get great pleasure in imagining the stories behind every work of art.
