I thoroughly enjoyed the class discussion that we had on the 27th. To be a bit self-indulgent I must say that I really enjoyed being able to speak, if briefly, on the topic of Comic’s artistic merit. However, there were many other aspects of the class that I found both interesting and enlightening. I always enjoy the debates that we have on art and what qualifies as art. I was very interested by the carving entitled “Outside the Box” and it drew to mind the story of Pandora’s Box and the development of all the woes in the world. I also found the discussion about havens for artists, and how there are no longer places where artists can congregate. All in all, I thought this was a very thought provoking class that helped develop interesting discussion and really made me contemplate the merits of artwork, and the changes that have happened in our society.
