KONY 2012

6 03 2012

Now, this is something that I saw that I felt needed true awareness. If you have 30 minutes free (which I’m sure many of you are due to procrastination), you may as well spend it by watching this video.

So now what? Do you feel like what you say won’t have an impact on many people? Well, spread the news anyway! You might be surprised how something like this can spread! It’s a lot to digest, I’m sure, but we will be able to find this guy and break down this injustice once and for all! I am reminded of this song by Tim Be Told:

I feel that this song fits perfectly with what’s going on in Uganda. There is so much brokenness in this world… we need more people to be aware of this issue at hand! A weird aside, but I barely saw any Asians participating; I feel that once the Asians start becoming part of this, awareness will shoot up.

A few things to keep note however: I’ve realized how powerful Facebook, Reddit, and tumblr can be. The things we share also has a bias to it and when we’re moved, we tend to change our minds and our hearts entirely about the situation, being skewed. Yes, I’d love for people to be more aware about the situation, but at the same time, I have my suspicions about the company itself.

For a different viewpoint on this issue, see here. Most people will tell you to focus on what the author has written, but this time, you should also pay attention to the comments to this post. After going through at least a couple of the comments, then you should formulate your own thoughts about the situation.
