Book Scanner
We have taken commercial hardware and built our own user-friendly software to create easy-to-use public scanners with special plates so that book spines are not damaged as students scan a few pages or images from a book. Commercial versions are often much more difficult to use, and our scanner has some unique features, like auto-recovery of files that might otherwise be lost during a power loss. We have commercialized the project, and sell it for approximately half the cost of other scanners. We’ve sold over 30 within CUNY and have begun selling outside CUNY, with sales to SUNY and LIU.
