Hybrid Initiative

The Hybrid Initiative at CSI has included several distinctive aspects. First, it has been created by a cross-functional team representing stakeholders from advisement, teaching and registry under the direction of the Faculty Center. Second, it has focused on high enrollment, multi-section courses in English Composition taught largely by long-serving adjuncts and lecturers who teach on the same days and times each semester. This allows for scheduling sections to maximize space savings so that two sections can meet in the space formerly required for one. Third , it has used a collaborative, lateral model of staff development whereby experienced adjunct instructors create curriculum and introduce it to other instructors as they enter the group and participate in a continuous online and in-person program of collaboration and sharing semester-by-semester.
