Generations in Astoria

Important aspects to consider while looking at the demographics of Astoria are its age groups.

According to the table below, the largest age group in Astoria ranges from the age of 25 to 34 years, making up 22.46% of the population. The largest age groups are in consecutive ranges and can be considered as the “Working Adult” groups, from age 25 to 34, 35 to 44, and 45 to 54 years. There also seems to be a relatively large number of senior citizens in Astoria, for the fourth largest age group is in the range of 65 to 74 years. One could draw the conclusion that many retired citizens settle in Astoria. Finally, there is a considerable number of children in Astoria, making up approximately 20% of the Astoria population.1

From the data collected above, Astoria seems to be a neighborhood where many families settle. The largest age group (25 to 34 years) is usually the time where people settle down with families of their own. The large percentage of children also help to support this conclusion. The gallery below shows all the schools in Astoria, both public and private. We can see that there are many schools in Astoria to accommodate the education of the younger students living here.
