As temperatures start dropping and leaves begin changing color throughout the city, City College is gearing up to welcome in autumn with its #CCNYGIVES fundraising initiative. On November 28, the college will host a 24-hour long celebration of community service and donation by raising funds to support the Wellness Center and Food Pantry on campus. CCNY students, faculty and alumni are encouraged to give as much as they can by donating online to ccnygives.org starting November 20, or by mailing checks to The Office of Institutional Advancement and Communications in Shepard Hall, room 154.
This is a great way to advance the services offered at CCNY, ones that are traditionally overlooked but provide a great deal of assistance to those who use them. Health and Wellness Services provides students with resources like the accessibility center, counseling center, student health services, gender resources, and volunteer emergency services. Counselors are available for students to talk to about mental, physical, and sexual issues. Emergency grant money is available for students who are in need of immediate assistance. The Food Pantry was an initiative started last year in partnership with the Colin Powell School and NYPIRG to provide free meals and supplies to students in need.
November is a time of giving thanks and of giving back. #CCNYGIVES works to do that by revitalizing City College’s mission to serving the underrepresented and uniting its community for a great cause. This Thanksgiving, choose to make an impact on the CCNY community and contribute to the various support systems present on campus.
