The One Where Electra, Electrifies The Audience

First of all, let me just start this by saying how much of an honor it is to see such an incredible orchestra in such a beautiful theatre, Carnegie Hall. Though the walk up to my seat was literally breath taking, the sweating and panting was worth it when I reached the beautiful theatre with people checking if their binoculars are working and positioning themselves comfortably. I struggled to get to my seat by swimming past the many feet that got there before me. At first I thought this was going to be a regular concert, like the many winter and spring concerts I attended for my sisters, but as soon as I saw Electra in her red dress walk in screaming from the top of her lungs I realized how wrong I was.

It took me a while to become accustomed to the fact that this wasn’t a regular concert this had so much more emotion not just what the actors were expressing but also through the music the orchestra produced. Every time an actor would enter the stage or the lines of the actor was very important or drastic, the music would change to tell the viewer that something important is happening. In my mind it was like a soap opera going on with live music. Even though I couldn’t find a good position to sit because of the cramped leg space I somehow managed to get away with finding a comfortable position to close my eyes for 2 minutes, but every time I would close my eyes Electra would start singing/screaming NOOOOOO! So this forced me to stay awake so I was able to observe the emotions on Electra’s face and positioning on the stage, and what I noticed is that she never left the left side of the stage. So this made me think, is there a reason for her staying on the left? Is she not allowed? And Why is everyone entering from the right side of the stage? Electra’s red dress also made her stand apart as opposed to the the dull colors all the other actors were wearing. It should her importance in the opera and the crimson color made her look vibrant.
The opera ended and after the many standing ovations, I bid my farewell to Carnegie Hall and Electra’s crimson dress and her vibrant voice and smile with a ringing in my ear but content that I was able to see Carnegie Hall for the first time.
