In chains

I chose this quote because I think it carries a lot of significance.

I think this speaks to how society can affect an individual.  A child is born innocently; a child is born blissfully ignorant to the struggles of the world.  But as the child gets older, they slowly see the truth of the world.

No you can’t do that, you’re too young.

No thats too heavy, let a man do it.

No don’t wear that color, its too girly.

No you can’t have that week off.

No you can’t have paid leave.

No you can’t get that raise.

No you can’t call the police, or else.

No matter how subtle or how severe, everyone is told an extensive list of things that they can’t do.  A child is born free, and as he/she ages, the chains that continue to weight him down are the limitations he must face and deal with.
