who we are

snapshot photo day

The snapshot photo day assignment was a very cool idea. All of the Macaualy students are unified on October 11th because every person takes a photograph of his neighborhood on the same day. The twist that Professor Bergman added was also interesting.

Carnegie Hall Chinese Music Concert

I hardly ever go to Carnegie Hall (though I'm not sure why) so seeing anything there is a real treat, especially when it's free for us. The only other time I remember going to Carnegie Hall was a couple years ago to see a recital of some young music students.

Carnegie Hall: Ancient Paths-Modern Voices

Entering Carnegie Hall for my first time, I was thrilled to hear music specifically related to my culture. I was able to recount my personal experience from hearing the same types of music such as the gongs used in the fourth performance, Parade for Six Peking Opera Gongs, because my grandmother use to do Chinese Operas. However, the difference with this Opera performance with the traditional Chinese Opera is the actual acting out, the singing, and traditional instruments used, which is extremely hard to follow and understand.

power of words

I took this photo in Union Square. A group of people brought bunch of letters and made

others participee in froming words out of them.

I think it goes well with this blog entry- power of words.

The Contrast

Thursday night I went with my friend Ruth from John Jay to the Metropolitan Playhouse. She had to see this play for her English class and had no idea on how to get there. I didn't really know the area either, the theater being in the Lower East side; however, the subway map I always keep with me has made me the expert of the two of us on how to get through the city.
