This increase in immigration occurred around the time of the Immigration Act of 1990, which essentially increased the number of immigrants allowed into the United States. The increase in immigrants changed the racial makeup of Forest Hills

Racial Make-Up

Forest Hills was initially a white neighborhood with few other ethnicities.

[2] This graph shows the change in census spanning from 1980 to 2000. Each decade witnessed changes in its racial makeup.

In 1980 it is evident that Forest Hills is made up of mostly whites.

By 1990, however, the Asian population increases, become a larger percentage of the entire population

Finally, by 2000, the White population has become a smaller percentage of the people living in Forest Hills
