The Effect of Street Lights on Tree Health

Interested in trees? Our study focuses on the effect of infrared light (from street lights) on the health of the Pin Oak tree population!

Group Members: Sarit Alkadaa, Jamie Ashkenazie, Jack Shalom, Adina Cohen

This topic is interesting to us because it deals with information that pertains to the neighborhood that all members of our group live in, which is Midwood. Trees play a vital role in our lives and is important for us to delve deeper into what it is that makes trees so important to the ecosystem as a whole. In addition, we felt that this experiment would help us see if things that may seem minuscule, like street lights, can affect the way that our ecosystem runs.

Through this project, we hope that people are able to understand that everything is interrelated and that questions can be asked about almost anything. New studies about our ecosystem will help our community thrive as the years pass by!
