Shakespearean Birds and Native Bird Groups in NYC

Forget about a dog-eat-dog world. In NYC, it’s a bird-eat-bird world. But, what does this mean for the invasive Shakespearean birds and native bird groups of NYC?

This project was done by Mazharul Mahe, Simona Iskander, Mackenzie Taller, and Deana Maksumov. Our project highlights the impact of invasive species, specifically the surviving birds from Shakespeare that were introduced in Central Park, NY in the 19th century, on native bird groups to this day. The research and findings are significant as they point to the serious and lasting consequences of trying to control biodiversity. The introduction of foreign entities can disrupt established niches through often unexpected cascading effects.
