In light of recent air quality events, such as the wildfires in Canada, we have chosen to investigate the perceptions of people who identify as New Yorkers and the potential long- and short-term effects that they have noticed within themselves whether that is respiratory or cardiovascular disease or mental health. In an effort to raise awareness of our air quality, we would like to be able to shed light on this vital topic.
Our data was gathered at Baruch College by means of a survey administered to different age groups. The survey inquired about respondents’ opinions on both the short- and long-term impacts of air pollution as well as their numerical assessment of how much they felt impacted, evaluated on a scale of 1 to 5. The results were displayed using a p-value test to identify correlations.
