Mushroom Bag

My project was making a crochet bag with 3D mushrooms with beads on them. I chose this because I want people to see the diversity that comes with crochet and other fiber arts, including the substitution of the yarn for more unconventional materials that allow for an even bigger diversity of art expression. I chose this topic because my artistic journey is linked with multimedia and exploring and mixing different mediums to create shapes and textures that can only be achieved by combining them. It took me around 36 hours to complete the bag, which stretched over a week. Through my research, I discovered even more crochet techniques and more of the changes in the style of crochet. I was introduced to the past of crochet when I was only aware of the present community online. Crocheting is a time-consuming craft; each loop and row that makes up the bag had to be individually made.
