Midterm Questions

1. Where does art begin? Since the emotions that are present before you view an artwork heavily influence what you think about that artwork, does the art experience begin with the journey you take to see the artwork?

2. Can something that doesn’t evoke an emotion be art? If it doesn’t change the way you act, think or feel, can it be considered art? Does blank emotion count as type of emotion?

Questions for Y’all

Here are the two midterm questions that I forgot to post earlier:

1. What makes art “art”? How could each of us consider specific types/works more of a work of “art”  than others, and does that disrupt the essence of art?

2. How does art impact our lives? How could this knowledge be used by an artist in the creation of his art? Moreover, should the artist consider the impact his art will have on others when creating it?

Midterm Questions

1) What is YOUR definition of art? Is it subjective or objective? Is the ratio of artist to a work of art 1:1, or are there really multiple artists responsible for a single work of art?

2) What is (in your opinion) the art “capital” of the world? Why?

Midterm

1) How do curators determine what is good art and what is bad art? Are there certain standards the art has to meet? And similarly, how do art teachers/professors grade art?

2) What do you think art will look like in the far future? For example, when I picture the world 50 years from now, I see metallics, structure, order, sharp shapes, and patterns. So what will the art look like and do you think it will mimic this picture of the future?

2. Why do you think there are “suffering artists”? Can someone be an artist without suffering or being emotional about their work?

Midterm Question…

Q:  If anything could be art, then nothing is art. Where do you draw the line between art and something else? Is it even possible to define art? Is it purely subjective (based on individual opinion) or does there exist a style or work that is objectively worthy of the title of “art”?

Midterm Question

1. How has your perception of art changed/improved throughout your experience in visiting and learning about different types and aspects of art? Do you now see art in different things that you wouldn’t have described as “art” beforehand?
