Movies/Dramas

  • Autumn’s Concerto/Next Stop, Happiness: a pretty sad Taiwanese drama, though the plot of the story does not really pick up until the middle of the series.
  • House of Flying Daggers: a really amazing Chinese movie. It’s something worth watching, though the ending may disturb or depress you.
  • Hi My Sweetheart: a really comedic Taiwanese drama. Simply put, it’s about a rich kid who wants to live the college life by pretending to be poor. Weak ending though… I expected more…
  • Secret: a really classic Taiwanese film that discusses about a magical piano piece called Secret. Stars Jay Chou.
  • My Neighbor Totoro: classic Japanese film. I’m terrible at explaining stuff sometimes… but you have to watch it yourself. The characters are so amazing!!
  • Howl’s Moving Castle: a teenage girl is put under a spell to become an 80-year-old woman. She meets a wizard named Howl. Storyline’s pretty good, but parts of it may surprise you because of the subtle changes here and there with the protagonist.
  • Spirited Away: another classic Japanese film. A girl learns of a very different civilization. Trivia: I was freaked out when I was younger when the parents turned into pigs. I turned off the TV and DVD player. Yes, I was that scared.
  • Summer Wars: a Japanese animated film about a guy invited to a girl’s relative’s birthday party. Things go awry when he is blamed for a hack in the AI system. He has to not only prove others wrong, but he also has to fix up the glitch before things get worse… I really liked this film because of the concept and I could relate to the main character.
