Weiwei’s Political Statements
The installation we saw at the Mary Boone gallery was made of twisted steel rebar salvaged from schools in Sichuan, China, that collapsed during the May 2008 earthquake due to shoddy construction (a fact covered up by the Chinese government). This is the link to the accompanying video.

Richard Phillips‘s huge paeans to the female form were featured at the Gagosian Gallery. He has written: “When we can’t determine what art is—when we get to that point where we’re not sure, that’s the strongest likelihood that we’re experiencing something great.”
