My thoughts on The Nutcracker

I was able to watch The Nutcracker today in the library, and I remember from the various other times in my life when I saw the ballet, I loved it, and it was sort of a Christmas tradition for a few years. However, at least for the version I saw, I really didn't like it. It was sappy and insipid, overly sweet and gaudy like watching It's a Wonderful Life while listening to Pat Boone singing Christmas songs, and reading a bunch of Hallmark cards.

Poetry Reading at Macaulay

Before attending the common event for Macaulay, I was a little unsure of how exciting a poetry reading would be. After hearing the first poem, though, I was reassured that this would be a good experience. Her style was unique, and although I didn't quite understand the message of everything she read, I was definitely captivated by her use of language as an art form. As the other poets stood at the podium and recited there work I was impressed and very moved at times, but I felt most moved by the final, Native American poet.

Old news but... Baruch is really big

I decided to explore Baruch and see what I would find. Since I'm usually clueless about the what's going on in my own school, I thought this may be beneficial. And simply put, I found myself with a lot of photo ops. Did you guys ever look down from the 13th floor of the Vertical Campus? I wanted to capture the height and depth of the location, but from the 13th floor all I could get was the site of 2 floors down. Eventually I got to the 8th floor and I think this is quite a site. It is a long way down. And looking around, you see what is goung on in Baruch at all times.

Not Another Scary Movie!
