Hey there! My name is Avishai Aghelian, and let me tell you about my project. I got really intrigued by the incredible influence of Persian culture on American music, and I just had to explore it. So, my project takes you on this journey where we dive into how Persian culture, with its rich history spanning thousands of years, has left a profound mark on the U.S. It’s just amazing how this cultural legacy has stood the test of time. And don’t even get me started on Persian cuisine – the flavors are out of this world!
But what really got me excited is the music. Persian melodies have transcended borders and captured the hearts of those who listen. One guy who played a pivotal role in all of this is Andy Madadian, often called the ‘Prince of Persian Pop’ and ‘Persian Elvis.’ He’s this incredible singer, songwriter, and producer who blended Persian music with American pop, rock, and dance.
Andy’s journey began in Tehran, Iran, and then, with the Iranian Revolution in 1979, he made this courageous decision to start fresh in the United States. He continued sharing his music in the vibrant Persian diaspora community of Los Angeles, and his albums resonated not only with Iranian-Americans but also introduced Persian music to a broader American audience. The reason I chose this topic is because I am Persian, and I love the Persian culture, and I want to teach others all about it!
