As part of the final Zine Projects, we did in Professor Susanna Cole’s MHC 100 course at Hunter College, we made identity webs as introductory pages. In class that day, we worked on listing the identities and hats that we wear in our lives. Afterward, we walked around the Hunter College to determine places on campus where we felt those identites reflected. This is the first page of our individual zines but there are many more that we worked on afterwards. We (Avraham Alaev, Luis Batista, Anthony Tommaso, and Samantha Chlafer) chose to present this page because it best reflects who we are and all the unique qualities we bring to each community we are a part of. Luis and Avraham used combinations of images and writing to highlight their various identities and backgrounds. Samantha included two different indentity webs to emphasize importance of always looking on the bright side, while Anthony used writing and to relay his own message. The unique approaches each student are meant to show that our experiences do not just shape our identities themselves, but also the way we express them.
