Through our research, Astoria tour, and experiences watching the Greek Independence Day Parade, we have learned about the many significant ways Greeks in Astoria hold on to their culture. Greek-Americans in Astoria work to preserve their traditional Greek heritage through participating in cultural associations, consuming Greek media (such as television, radio, and newspapers), creating and listening to Greek music and dance, as well as following and participating in Greek-American soccer clubs. It is through these cultural activities that Greek Astorians are able to preserve their Greek culture and pass these traditions on to the next generation.
