Brooklyn College

Welcome to the home page for the Food Group. Our focus, being the food group, is food in and around Brooklyn College. This is a topic that relates directly to us, and it is also something that we feel would be interesting to us to research about. We began by defining sustainability. In our own words, we believe sustainability is the ability to last as far as three different terms. These three terms are based on three sections which we found to be the most important aspects to use to analyze sustainability. These three are social, environmental, and economic. These three are shown to the right as:

-How will the food I’m eating affect my waistline? (social)

-How much will this hurt my pocket? (economic)

Economic Aspect of Sustainability

These three categories are very important parts of our study of the food of Brooklyn College. The interviews we conducted were based upon these three categories and the questions used were aimed towards these three sections of our definition of sustainability, and we used these questions to make assumptions about the food places we interviewed based upon their answers, the interviews of students, and any additional research we found.
