Embedding Video in a Post

If your video clip is short, you can upload it to the Media Library and embed it as you would an image, provided it is an .mp4 or .m4v file (note: Quicktime files will likely not embed properly). However, this eats up a lot of space on the site.

So, consider uploading the video to YouTube or Vimeo (you can password protect if you want, just be sure to share with us the password). All you do then is add the link to your post and the video will embed!

Start and Stop Times

You can also embed a clip from a YouTube video, by embedding the video with start and stop times. You can actually customize your YouTube embed quite a bit.

A few things to note about embedding start and stop times:
First, you must be the administrator on the site.
Screen Shot 2016-05-15 at 9.27.05 AMNext, you have to use the embed code from the video. Click on Share then Embed and copy and paste the entire code into the text editor of your post/page.
Finally, you add the following information after the URL but still within the quotation marks.
&start=[starting point time in seconds]&end=[ending point time in seconds]&version3
Note that the start and stop times must be converted to seconds. Remember that one hour equals 60 minutes.  Each minute contains 60 seconds.  So 60 minutes x 60 seconds equals 3600 seconds. You have to do some math!
Here is an example. I’ve marked in red the added code.
