Welcome & Introductions of New Council Members & Student Organization Leaders

Introduction of Grace Rapkin, Director of Marketing & Communications

  • Macaulay branded products available at http://www.thecunystore.com/ as well as the bookstore at City College.
  • Macaulay Monday’s view count from Macaulay students must increase
    • Urges all members who attended the meeting to increase the awareness of Macaulay Monday
      • Macaulay Monday’s current turnout in readership is 50%
    • To post on Macaulay Monday an email must be made before Thursday at noon.
  • Macaulay’s social media presence must increase as well

 

Macaulay Administration Announcements

  • Class of 2015 Senior Night event, Feb 23 at 6pm, The Graduate Center.
  • Class of 2015 Commencement Ceremony, June 2 at 6:30pm, Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.
  • Travel Abroad Deadlines (Opp. Funds, Gaplapagos; Dominican Republic, etc.).
  • MSC Members and Club Leaders: Complete/submit photo and short bio for the MSC webpage

 

General “Calendar” issues

  • Thursdays and Fridays are the busiest days at Macaulay. It’s best  to plan out the room reservations well in advance if you are requesting for a room reservation for those days.

 

General Budget & Reimbursement Policies

  • Students clubs are allotted $300/semester
  • Macaulay Scholar’s Council is allotted $2000 a semester
  • Student Activities email (submission) address: Student.Clubs@mhc.cuny.edu
    • To expedite the reimbursement process, let Macaulay know in advance. MHC can even purchase the items for the club beforehand so that a reimbursement is not needed.

MSC Priorities for 2014-2015

  • Formation of Committees (e.g., Website & Communications; Community Service; Special Events, etc.)
    • Updates to the committee will be given at the Nov. 16th Meeting

Club Updates:

 

  • MATHaulay
    • Math Club just had an event at the MoMath Museum where we helped create a level 3 Menger Sponge. We will be discussing plans for Macaulay’s first Math symposium during our next meeting on November 19 at 1:00pm at HUNTER COLLEGE”S Macaulay lounge. We will be holding the math symposium on November 23rd.
    • Also had Mega Menger club event on October 17 with Dr. Laura Taalman where we folder level 0 cubes to participate in new yorks level 3 and then several math club members participated in the Mega Menger event at the museum of math on October 25th. Our next meeting is on Wednesday November 19.
  • Macaulay Dancers
    • Competition team is preparing for competition, Club team is holding various workshops (bollywood, tap, hip hop, jazz, modern, etc)
  • Macaulay Messenger
    • 1. The next edition of The Macaulay Messenger will be published some time during the next week.
    • 2. Our next deadline will be on November 30th.
  • Macaulay Quiddich
    • Macaulay Quidditch Team recently competed in the first BAQC Meet. We finished the day 3-1 improving our record to 3-4. We are now getting prepared for the Northeast Regional Championship in Rochester New York, where if we place in the top cohort we will be on our way to World Cup again in the spring.

    • Teams have been formed and volunteering will begin the week of 11/2
