Fall Fashion Trends

When I think of Fall, I think of the colorful leaves, the crisp air, and all of the awesome fashion. Fall clothing represents a sophisticated contrast to the fun lightness of summer clothing. The colors are rich, the textures are complex, and the tailoring is sharp.

The semester has just started, and I’ve already started thinking of all the cool outfits I’ll get to wear in the coming months. Here are some of the trends to look for this fall:

Ankle Boots

Knee-high boots hit the sidewalks every fall as women strut to work, school, and holiday parties. This season, change things up a bit and give ankle boots a try. They’re lots of fun to wear and they’re versatile. Designers are producing them with all kinds of colors, textures, and shapes. Ankle boots look good with anything including with a dress and black tights or a cute pair of skinny jeans and a chunky knit sweater. I’m going to go dig my pair out from the closet. Perfect that model walk, ladies!

Graphic Sheath Dress

Summer dresses in all kinds of prints were seen all over NYC this summer as women wanted to get in touch with their feminine side in a modern way. This look can be transitioned into the fall with a 60s style graphic sheath dress. Traditional sheath dresses are fitted and usually monochromatic. This season, the dress is still fitted, but is modernized with an interesting print. The wearer can choose a print that goes along with their personal style. The sheath dress can be worn with or without tights and can be paired with a pair of black pumps. It’s the perfect look for the office or for a great night out.

Men’s Watches

I’ve been wearing a watch since my dad got me my first one when I was in the fourth grade. It was flowery, girly and perfect for a 10 year old. I’ve owned a whole variety of watches and one of my favorite kinds of watches is a men’s style watch. Women no longer have to wear feminine delicate watches. These watches have large faces attached to a wide bracelets made of expensive material. They make a statement about the women that wear them. So take a fashion risk and borrow your dad’s or boyfriend’s watch to wear for the day.

Brimmed Hat

Hats can be worn during any time of the year from straw fedoras during the summer to chunky knit hats in the winter. This accessory has been reworked and re-imagined for hundreds of years and has adorned the heads of both women and women of all different classes. This season, the menswear inspired brimmed hat is one of the best accessories to wear to look sophisticated and to complete your look. Get one in a rich dark blue, a dark red, or a classic black. Instant coolness.

Dark-Colored Jeans

Summer was all about bright colors, and women all over the city rocked skinny jeans in explosive colors. However, fall calls for pants in rich dark greens, browns, and reds. These colors are the perfect complement to the foliage and a great preclude to the wintertime. These jeans are incredibly versatile and can be paired with a variety of sweaters, shoes, and coats. Get yourself a snug pair in your favorite dark color and throw on a pea coat.
