Macaulay Honors College hosted a panel featuring some of the brightest minds that cover American soccer on November 13. The panel was different than what was expected. ESPN’s Roger Bennett was not able to make the event, as he was covering Mexico vs. New Zealand match. However, Grantland’s Noah Davis, Sports Illustrated‘s Grant Wahl, and Mark Kirby, co-founder of Howler magazine, graciously donated their time.

Daniel Pecoraro, Hunter ’14, and Meira Harris, Hunter ’15, did an outstanding job coordinating the event. Daniel, who also moderated the event, asked questions that gave insight into the lives of these writers and the personal experiences that impacted their work. The questions ranged from how each writer began his career in journalism to how they approach interviews to the specific moments that defined their careers. You can listen to the full audio of the event, including stories of Wahl’s conversation with Mario Balotelli and Davis’s personal car explosion. (Please keep in mind an iPhone was used to record the event.)
