You can easily embed a .doc, .pdf, or other file in a post or on a page so that the viewer can both view and scroll through the document on the site as well as download it. You can also embed a simple download link. The processes are similar.

  1. On a Page or in a Post, Click the Add Media where you wish the file to be embedded.
  2. In the window that opens, select the file you wish to embed, and turn your attention to the options on the right hand of the screen. Embed Image
  3. Under “Attachment Details,” edit the Title, Details, and Caption.
  4. Under “Attachment Display Settings,”
    1. Set “Link To” to “Media Link” if you wish for a scrollable image and download link of the file to be embedded.
    2. Set “Link To” to “Attachment Page” if you wish for simply a download link to be embedded.
  5. Click the button Insert Into Post.

Note: You will not necessarily see the image of the document embedded as you are working on the post. Instead, you will see an embed code (something like “gview=”xxx”” Leave this intact.).  Be sure to Save Draft and then Preview or Publish to verify that the document has embedded as you wish.

Note: If the file-size is large, the document may not appear embedded, but it will still be downloadable from the post.
