You can easily embed a .doc, .pdf, or other file in a post or on a page so that the viewer can both view and scroll through the document on the site as well as download it. You can also embed a simple download link. The processes are similar.
- On a Page or in a Post, Click the Add Media where you wish the file to be embedded.
- In the window that opens, select the file you wish to embed, and turn your attention to the options on the right hand of the screen.
- Under “Attachment Details,” edit the Title, Details, and Caption.
- Under “Attachment Display Settings,”
- Set “Link To” to “Media Link” if you wish for a scrollable image and download link of the file to be embedded.
- Set “Link To” to “Attachment Page” if you wish for simply a download link to be embedded.
- Click the button Insert Into Post.
Note: You will not necessarily see the image of the document embedded as you are working on the post. Instead, you will see an embed code (something like “gview=”xxx”” Leave this intact.). Be sure to Save Draft and then Preview or Publish to verify that the document has embedded as you wish.
Note: If the file-size is large, the document may not appear embedded, but it will still be downloadable from the post.
