Adding audio to your posts; other IT reminders

Hi everyone!

First of all, check it out–I’m about to use the “Insert More” tag option. You might find this useful on some of your long posts. It’s an option at the top of the editing window. Mousing over those will tell you what they do, so take a look!

Audio: If you have an audio file you’d like to share with us, you can upload it to our media library, and then use the “Podpress” interface at the bottom of the editing/composing window to add a little player to your post. Scroll down and click “Add Media File.” Put the address of the file in the “Location” bar and give it a title. Then type “[display_podcast]” wherever you’d like it to appear on the page. (By default, it will appear after any text.) You don’t need to worry about anything else in that section–all the iTunes stuff is irrelevant to you.

Warning: PLEASE do not go totally crazy adding audio (or big images, or video clips) directly to this blog. Try to host it elsewhere if you can! We don’t have a heck of a lot of storage space.

Sidebar: Now that everyone is signed up for the site, I’ve taken the “join this site” widget off our sidebar and added links to the most recent comments, so that you can join right in on the discussion.

Finally: Please, please, please at least categorize your posts under your name. If we need new categories, let me know. I’ve also made every student an “editor” on this blog, and I think that means you should be able to make new categories yourself. If you can’t, no worries. Just let me know what you need.

l’shana tova and eid mubarak, as well as any other holidays I might be forgetting–
L.
