I live in Great Neck, Long Island and I am currently commuting to Baruch. Some of my favorite movies are Interstellar, Inception, and How I Live Now. My favorite novel and my corresponding favorite television series is the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, otherwise known as Legend of the Seeker. My music taste ranges, however some of my favorite artists are Kygo, Twenty One Pilots, Muse, Ludovico Einaudi, and M83. I grew up in a large conservative Jewish family as the eldest of five siblings. My name Sidonya, of Russian, Jewish descent, apparently means to seduce (or so my parents have said).
Currently, I am interested in studying business as I was a member of DECA throughout high school, a club in which I competed against other students nationally in mock financial realms. This taste of business excited me, and made me see a future working possibly on Wall Street in either marketing, accounting, or finance. My major is not decided as of now because my interests are still broad. In the future, I also hope to live in the city and I want to have my first pet, a dog.

Hello, my name is Kyle Arnold. I’m from Baldwin, New York and I plan to major in International Business. My favorite movies of all time are The Godfather and Whiplash and my favorite show is Samurai Champloo. My favorite museum in the city is the Metropolitan Museum of Art because it has such a vast collection so you can see new things no matter how many times you go. A personal art interest of mine is photography – I love taking pictures of this city.

I have lived in Brooklyn for 10 years but I moved to the states when I was eight years old from Georgia (the country). In Baruch I want to major in Marketing because I love the creative aspect of it. Aside from worrying about school and assignments I enjoy binge watching reality T.V or Netflix. Also, I relish books, particularly the “Glass Castle” and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”. To add on, I love improv, so much that I joined a troupe for four years and we performed at UCB every year, once during a show hosted by Amy Poehler. On the more random side of this introduction, I had a pet cat but I couldn’t keep her due to my allergies (fun fact I am allergic to everything), so instead I got 2 goldfish.

Hi! My name is Karishma Malhotra. I look forward to learning about arts in NYC because I believe art is truly profound in the way it makes different people feel different things based on their own backgrounds and stories. My favorite kind of art is writing, specifically poetry. Some of my favorite poets include Rupi Kaur, R.M. Drake, and Lang Leav.
My dream job would be working on the client side of investment banking on wall street and I hope to achieve this by majoring in Financial Mathematics at the Zicklin School of Business. I am also interested in learning about philosophy because I believe that philosophy helps a person grow and learn more about the universe around them as well as the universe within them.

Hi everyone, my name is Robert Godberson, and I am a 17 year old college student living in Brooklyn, New York. I am originally from a small town in Long Island, New York called Miller Place. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, shopping, surfing on social media, watching tv and musicals, and photography. I am the oldest of 4 siblings, ranging from 14 year old to 7 months. I also have 3 dogs, 2 of them being shih tzu’s and the third a miniature bulldog.
At Baruch, I plan on majoring in either public relations, advertising, or marketing. In high school, I participated in the school drama club, and have performed in 13 musicals over the course of my life. Some of my favorite musicals include West Side Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Rent, all of which take place in New York City! In addition to being involved in Drama Club, I was the secretary of my student government and member of the school Vocal Jazz troupe. In terms of art, I never took an art class in high school but love visiting the MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Guggenheim. My intention for pursuing public relations and advertising as a major stems from a Pre College class I took at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in which i studied both subjects. In the future I aspire to work adjacent to fashion and magazine enterprises as a public relations manager and consultant. Regardless of my profession, I hope to still be able to live and work in the city that I love, New York.

Hi, my name is Stella. I live in Staten Island, New York and have lived here for basically my whole life. I have two sisters and one brother; I am the third child. Currently, I’m not sure what I want to major in, but I’m almost sure it will be something in business. I like to bake in my free time, but I keep a very busy schedule. Everyday after class, I have practice for the Baruch women’s volleyball team. When I’m not in class or practicing, I like to browse social media and hang with my friends. Going out always consists of eating good food, because I love to try new places. As for the arts, I’m an avid museum-goer. I enjoy the freedom and peacefulness of just looking at art at my own leisurely pace. I’ve grown to love history and have always loved art and especially New York City. So I’m looking forward to this class and what new things I’m going to learn.

I am a Freshman at Baruch College and I want to study business. Although I am still unsure what I want to major in, I am open to new ideas and willing to learn about other fields of interest. I was born in the United States and was raised in NYC my whole life. I am currently living with my parents, younger sister and grandma In Queens. During my free time, I enjoy listening to music and watching Korean dramas. I find a sense of comfort and happiness from watching Korean variety shows such as Running Man and Two Days One Night.
I went to Francis Lewis High School. During my high school, I participated in many extra curricular activities and volunteer work. I was the former president of the Youth Community Project Team (YCPT). YCPT is an after school program made up of local high school students willing to commit to ending domestic violence, sexual assault, abusive relationships and create a violence free society. I am also former president of the No Place for Hate Club. This club’s initiative is designed to create inclusive communities and empower schools to challenge all forms of bigotry. Furthermore, I was a peer mentor who mediated numerous student disputes preventing potential suspensions, and provided effective and friendly resolutions to improve school life. I am now working to be an impact leader in my college and local community by initiating a social justice project in the ELLA Fellowship.

Hi! My name is Stephanie Tam. I look forward to learning in this class because although I have lived in NYC for all of my life, I haven’t spent a lot of time appreciating the arts that surround me. I listen to a variety of music but I particularly enjoy pop. I enjoyed the films “A Silent Voice” and “Your Name”. My favorite arts are music and photography. I love capturing specific moments and looking back on the memories.
As of now, I plan to major actuarial science because it seems interesting and my family members encouraged me to pursue it. I would like to spend my time at Baruch learning more about the occupation to determine if this is what I would like to do in the future. If not, there are plenty of possibilities left for me to discover.

Hello everyone! My name is Jun Huang. I was born in China and moved to Brooklyn at an age of 6. I am currently interested in studying both computer information systems and finance. My interest in computers in general started back when I was a freshman in high school. My software engineering teacher convinced me that technology is the future of our world, and that future lies within our hands as young software engineers. Even today, I hold strongly to that belief. As for why I chose CIS over computer science is because my family wanted me in the business field. CIS is a great mix between business and computer science, a place where my parents’ interests align with mine.
Outside of class, I enjoy biking around the city to explore new places to eat. For me, it’s a great way to relax my body and mind. I also enjoy building custom computers, which can be perceived as a piece of art. Each build has its unique hardware and theme. This is my favorite builds so far: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6_RV25UM32OUkd4emp0Yi00Mnc

Hi, my name is Ali Hussain. I was originally born in a small house in a very small village in Pakistan. When I was about 4 or 5, my parents, brothers, and I moved to England. We moved around quite a bit, hopping from Prescot to Warwick to Coventry to Birmingham in order to follow my father’s desires to climb the rungs within his occupation as a doctor, eventually becoming a neurosurgeon. In 2010, my dad moved to America in order to set his sons up for a good education here. In 2011, once the issues with Visas was dealt with, we joined him too. Since then, we’ve hopped from different houses but we’ve always remained within the Bronx. We’ll reside in the current apartment we’re in up until June 2018, at which point my father will be working at yet another hospital and I will either live in yet another apartment or I might dorm at Baruch or wherever I may choose to transfer if need be.
My plan coming to college was to double major in biology and psychology and double minor in philosophy and creative writing. Biology, psychology, and philosophy have always been my “obvious” subjects because I essentially want my life mission to be to find out how a human works and to look at that through the lenses of the body, the mind, and the other mysterious aspect some people refer to as a soul. Creative writing has been a relatively new passion of mine. I always liked reading but it wasn’t until my favorite teacher from Junior year exposed me to the writing scene that I found I loved it. I realize though that Baruch may not be my best option to pursue this so, in the future, I’ll be looking into either transferring to a college that might be better for me or into programs that will allow me to take classes at other CUNY schools.
My favorite movie is A Monster Calls, which is chicken soup for the soul. My favorite novel right now might be The False Prince, which is shorter than the usual grand epic but is one of the only two books I’ve read more than once (the other being A Game of Thrones). In terms of music, my taste is widely eclectic, including basically everything that isn’t country music.

Hello, my name is Victor Carrano. I was born and raised in the beautiful Hudson Valley in the historic town of Stony Point. Although I am new to everyday life here in New York City, the city has a very special meaning to myself and my family. Both of my parents are native New Yorkers: My father is from Queens, my mother is from the Bronx. Past generations on both sides of my family settled in New York City when they first immigrated to the United States. My family’s deep ties to this city were an important factor in my decision to attend college here and experience for myself what this great city has to offer.
I intend on majoring in Finance here at Baruch. My goal is to work on Wall Street and build a successful career in the financial field. One of my favorite hobbies is running, and I am a member of the Baruch Cross Country team. I am currently commuting from the Bronx where I am staying with my uncle during school. Being a student here in New York City is an entirely new experience for me having come from the suburbs, but I am looking forward to the opportunities that await me over these next four years.

Hello all, my name is Alan Glikman. I am planning on majoring in Finance here during my 4 years at Baruch. I plan on graduating to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and then continuing school to receive an MBA degree. I live in Bensonhurst of Brooklyn, NY. My favorite films are The Boiler Room, Wolf of Wall Street, and Gladiator. I am a big fan of rap music, I consider J. Cole, Drake, and Russ to be the top artists of the genre at this point of time. I live with both of my parents, have one older brother who is married and has a son, and I have another older sister who is also married and has a daughter. So I am an uncle to both. My dream job is to become an investment banker one day hopefully working at a top firm as in like J.P. Morgan or Goldman Sachs’s because I am very interested by the realm of the stock market and the idea of private and corporate investment leading to major success and profit.

Hello, my name is Hyosik Shin, although I prefer to be called Hugh (it’s much easier). I was born in Korea but lived in Syracuse and Princeton for most of my life. I spent my 4 years of high school in Korea before I came to this school. I can be a bit awkward because I’m confused in regards to my cultural identity. While I can speak English and Korean, I always feel like I’m much more American as I enjoy the sense of freedom. On the other hand, I will always find myself bowing to older people (which I find makes situations awkward in America). I’m hoping that through college, I will be able to grasp a better sense of my self.
I enjoy a variety of different arts. I can perform on several different instruments, and I also enjoy composing music. I also spend a lot of time listening to music, and enjoy most genres (although I’m not fond of country music and experimental indie music). The visual arts also intrigue me, but I haven’t really invested any time towards the visual arts. The most I can do is graffiti, other than that my drawing skills are limited to stick figures.
I applied to this school through political science, but I am open to a different path. While I don’t really think business will be fun for me, my main priority is to find a career that will be fulfilling to both me and helpful to other people. Computer science interests me as well, but I really want to avoid an office job.

Hi, I’m Ingrid Gendler. I currently live in Brooklyn, with my mother and father. I used to live with my twin sister, but she just moved out to college outside of Boston so I am still adjusting to life as an only child. I went to Brooklyn Technical High School, where my area of concentration was Graphic Design and Media Communication. After two years of studying film, animation, graphic design and marketing, I had the opportunity to produce my own documentary about and design branding for a fictitious company in my senior year.
I am currently undecided, but I am looking to major in history or perhaps journalism. One of my hobbies is watching movies. I will literally watch just about any movie out there, especially any romantic comedy from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. One of my favorite films is Breakfast At Tiffany’s. I also really love documentary style films and news broadcasts. I just recently watched the animated documentary Tower, which was nothing short of incredible. I do not read much, with the exception of news articles and editorials, mostly due to their brevity and my short attention span. Of the few books I have read, my favorite by far is The Little Prince, which albeit a book geared toward children, is just as rewarding a read for adults. Outside of my hobbies and class, I work as a tutor with young children, teaching them how to read and write.
Arts outside of film have never been of much interest to me, but I have been to quite a few museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) five times. I am hoping to thoroughly enjoy this class as I think it is incredibly important to understand the historical context in which art is produced to further understand its meaning and the author’s intent. I look forward to exploring an area of history I have little knowledge of.

Hi, I’m Justin Bischof. I am originally from Holtsville, Long Island, but I am currently living in the dorms that Baruch offers. I have two brothers and I am the youngest. I intend to major in actuarial science. During my years at Baruch, I plan to intern in order to get some experience in my field. After my four years at Baruch, I hope to become an actuary. I’m looking forward to this class because I enjoy exploring the city when I’m not too busy. I also enjoy playing sports, more specifically soccer, which I’ve played since I was four years old. I’m always listening to music. My favorite albums are Illmatic, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Reasonable Doubt.

Hi, I’m Herrick Lam. I was born in New York City and I was raised there until third grade when I moved to Long Island. I live with my parents, my two older sisters, and my grandma. Since I am the youngest and the last to go to college, we are moving back to the city to make it more convenient for me and my family. My favorite mediums of art are film, music, photography, and definitely food. Film and music allow my mind to escape to a different reality and be free from the problems of everyday life. Photography, on the other hand, helps me capture the moments of everyday life that I can look back to. Food enables me to utilize my sense of taste to the fullest and it brings me joy to eat something really good of course. I plan on doing something related to business. I’m not entirely sure of what I want, but I hope to find out in college.

I’m from Dix Hills, Long Island, however I’m currently traveling to Baruch from their dorms. I have 2 cats and a dog at home. I’m majoring in Actuarial Science because I have always liked math. During my senior year of high school, I was on the cheer team and I was involved with the Italian culture club (I plan to join the Italian club at Baruch). I enjoy watching TV and movies (I have binge watched too many shows on Netflix including The Flash, How to Get Away with Murder, The Vampire Diaries, The 100, Sherlock, etc.) Some of my favorite movies are Pitch Perfect, the Harry Potter series, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Despite the fact that I’m a picky eater I love food (especially calamari) I took a few art classes in high school and I’m curious as to what this class has to offer.

Hello! My name is Joyce and I plan on majoring in actuarial science, but I have to admit that I don’t particularly have a reason for it beyond the increasing job opportunities and my parents’ encouragement. I live in Queens, and I am sad to say that I have rarely ventured outside of my home borough, so going to school in the city has been an interesting experience, to say the least. The commute is unpredictable, so I am always either an hour early or arriving just on time—there is no in-between.
I am an avid patron of Korean entertainment, particularly K-pop, and my favorite group is BTS. The experience has been like falling into a void, because it consumes my time and energy and I won’t even notice that I’ve been analyzing a music video for hours. I hope to self-study Korean with the aid of apps, trusty Youtube videos, variety shows, and dramas, so that I will be proficient enough to study abroad in South Korea (hopefully, with my friends). I was hoping there would be a Korean club at Baruch, but I have yet to find one.
I have a healthy appreciation for movies, especially after the Film Studies class I took in my senior year of high school. I’ve watched the Harry Potter series as well as Naruto more times than I can count, so their respective endings were bittersweet farewells. Given the choice, I would almost always go for Disney movies, and I will absolutely sing along even if I am tone-deaf. My favorites are Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I have also been eagerly awaiting the release of The Incredibles 2, so I will definitely be in the movie theater that opening weekend.

Hello! My name is Musa Nauman. I’m from Dix Hills, NY (Suffolk County, Long Island) and I plan to study business at Baruch (probably finance). I have always been interested in business and my dream job would be running my own business. I enjoy traveling and meeting different people: I have been to 7 countries and I plan on visiting many more soon. However, my heart is in NYC. I love the city’s vibe and all it has to offer, and I hope to learn about more about the arts in NYC through this class.

Hello, my name is Sunreet Kaur. I currently live in Long Island and commute everyday to Baruch College. I have three other siblings, two of which have already graduated from college. I have one younger brother who is currently in high school. I went to Jericho High School and participated in Spring Track and Cross Country. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and going to nice restaurants in the city.
At Baruch College I plan on majoring in Finance at the Zicklin School of Business. I am reaching to build a successful career in the financial field. I am looking forward to this class and all of the new things that I will learn about the arts in NYC through it.

Good morning! My name is Masha Fomitchova, and I, in a very well-planned manner that’s totally not reminiscing of how late I am to everything, am doing my introduction post now! I just graduated from Stuyvesant high school, and I’m going into Baruch as a Macaulay Honors Student. and. I’m from Russia, but I’ve lived in NYC for my entire life and love the city in every way, from exploring to just painting on my fire escape. I’m a model and am interested in fashion, but I’m also really passionate about art and art history, so I spend a ridiculous amount of time in museums, especially the Met. I’m also a ballroom dancer and love going out dancing in general. I am a firm supporter of the “due tomorrow means do tomorrow” model of thinking, so I’m up very late a majority of the time, but I do care about academics a lot. I have a horrific habit of being able to rant about absolutely useless theories about human behaviour and economics, so I’m terribly sorry if you have to experience that 😉 I’ve done competitive gymnastics and diving for most of my life. I am an admitted abuser of coffee and blonde jokes. I’d absolutely love to meet all of you! If anyone is up for a lovely discussion about how to slam a revolving door, I’d love to do so! This post is getting longer than my hair and I ought to stop. I greatly look forward to being in your class!
